The Lowell Fire Department is looking for a new firefighter!

Benefits include a 48/96 work schedule, LOPFI retirement, health, dental, and vision insurance, holiday pay, vacation and sick leave. Uniforms supplied by the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Arkansas EMT-basic or ability to obtain through reciprocity
• 18 years old
• U.S. Citizen
• Valid driver’s license
• High school diploma / GED
• No felony convictions on criminal record
• Must pass a physical including vision within parameters or correctable to 20-20 per NFPA 1582
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:
• IFSAC Firefighter I and II certifications
• IFSAC Haz-Mat Awareness and Operations
• Arkansas EMT-Paramedic

Applicants will be required to pass a written and physical agility test delivered by the LFD. With a passing score on each, applicants will be scheduled for an interview. Test date will be determined by the end of the application deadline.

POLICE DISPATCHER
Closing Date: TBA
Work Hours: Rotating shifts days, nights, weekends and holidays.
 

Position Summary:
Police dispatcher will be required to receive and transmit emergency 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls from public to the appropriate police units. The employee is responsible for thoroughly obtaining information from callers to determine jurisdiction and personnel required. The employee will be required to utilize computer aided software, mapping systems, radio software and any other systems deemed necessary by dispatch supervisor. The employee will be required to perform quickly and accurately under stress. This position will require the employee to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes immediately. The employee must possess excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize situations and tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Receives and answers emergency, potential emergency and non-emergency calls in professional manner.
-Accurately enter call data into CAD.
-Dispatch appropriate police units to location of call.
-Notify other agencies for addition resources when needed.
-Stays in constant contact with personnel while on scene to ensure safety.
-Answer and log officer-initiated calls, incidents and status.
-Work closely, effectively and professionally with other agencies.
-Assist public and other city officials in person.
-Ability to work effectively in high pressure atmosphere.
-Must be able to work independently and possess a strong work ethic.
-Adapt quickly to changes.
-Ability to remain calm during high pressure situations and all times.
-Perform other duties as assigned by dispatch supervisor.
-Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week operation center which will include weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
-High school diploma or G.E.D.
-Related experience and/or training preferred but not required.
-Must be able to attend off site training.
-Must possess no felony convictions.
-Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and physical.

Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

Be at least 21 years of age
Possess a valid drivers license
Be free of felony convictions

Police Officers must pass a background investigation, physical examination, psychological examination and physical agility test.
All officers must pass a physical fitness test and a written exam.
